If you are looking to book a trip or even move to Hawaii, chances are you may have already found out that not every airline travels to the islands. So, which islands go to Hawaii, and what is the best option for you? Here are many of the options available to you from around the world.
Air Canada
Founded in 1937, Air Canada is the largest airline of Canada, and offers flights for passengers and cargo to 182 destinations worldwide. Hawaii is one such destination!
Air New Zealand
Based in Aucklund, Air New Zealand is the national airline of New Zealand. The airline offers flights to 22 domestic and 29 international destinations around the Pacific rim and the United Kingdom. It is the only airline out of New Zealand to offer flights to Hawaii.
Air Pacific/Fiji Airways
Air Pacific Ltd, operating as Fiji Airways (formerly as Air Pacific), is based in Nadi and operates international and domestic flights around the Pacific Ocean, the United States, Hawaii, and Hong Kong.

Alaska Airlines airline is based in Seattle, Washington, It serves flights to more than one hundred destinations in the contiguous United States, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, Costa Rica and Mexico. It also has the highest ranked customer satisfaction of the traditional airlines for nine consecutive years. Luckily, that doesn’t mean their prices have skyrocketed!
American Airlines
American Airlines (American for short) is a major airline headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, USA. It is the world’s largest airline when measured by fleet size, revenue, and scheduled passenger-kilometres flown. It’s the second-largest by destinations offered. It offers international and domestic flights for both passengers and cargo to 350 destinations in more than 50 countries. It also flies directly to some of the islands other than Oahu.
China Airlines
China Airlines is the largest airline of the Republic of China and headquartered in Taiwan. China Airlines offers over 1,400 flights weekly to 118 airports in 115 cities in Asia, Europe, North America, and Oceania.
Delta Airlines
Delta Airlines, (Delta) is headquartered at Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. They offer extensive domestic and international flight options that include 334 destinations in 64 countries. Delta also operates joint ventures with Air France-KLM, Alitalia, Virgin Atlantic, and Virgin Australia.
Japan Air
Japan Airlines (Japn Air) is headquartered in Shinagawa, Tokyo, Japan.Its main hubs are Tokyo’s Narita International Airport and Tokyo International (Haneda) Airport. Their operations include international and domestic flights to 220 destinations in 35 countries worldwide. You will be able to get a non-stop flight for Japan to Hawaii with Japan Air because they are so close to each other.
jetBlue
JetBlue Airways (jetBlue), is a low-cost airline and the 5th largest airline in the United States. It is headquartered in the Queens, NY, with its main airport being John F. Kennedy International Airport. The airline mainly offers flights in the United States, with a few exceptions being the The Bahamas, Bermuda, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago. JetBlue serves 97 destinations in the U.S., Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, and South America. It currently has a four-star rating from Skytrax, with Virgin America being the only other airline with such a rating.
Korean Air
Korean Air Lines (Korean Air) is the largest airline of South Korea. The airline’s global headquarters are located in Seoul, Republic of Korea. Korean Air’s international passenger division serves 127 cities in 44 countries, while its domestic division serves 12 destinations. It is among the top 20 airlines in the world in terms of passengers carried.
Philippine Airlines
Philippine Airlines is the flag carrier airline of the Philippines. Headquartered at the PNB Financial Center in Pasay City, the airline was founded in 1941 and is the first and oldest commercial airline in Asia. It serves 31 destinations in the Philippines and 41 overseas destinations in Southeast Asia, East Asia, the Middle East, Oceania, North America, and Europe.
United Airlines
United Airlines (United) is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, USA. It’s the world’s largest airline when measured by number of destinations served, and offers flights to hundreds of domestic and international locations for both passengers and cargo. They also offer flights to some of the islands other than Oahu.
Virgin America
Virgin America is based in San Francisco, CA, USA. Their stated mission is to provide low-cost, high-quality service for “long-haul point-to-point service between major metropolitan cities on the Eastern and West Coast seaboards.” They announced in 2015 they would be offering flights from Los Angeles to Hawaii, and fly into the Honolulu International Airport.
Many of the airlines that offer flights to Hawaii offer various flight times, durations, and seating options. Depending on where in the world you are traveling from, it’s possible to get direct flights to Hawaii, but in some areas you may have to have at least one layover. Be sure to check with the individual airlines to what options they offer and if they accommodate and special needs your party may have.
Note that many airlines only fly into the Honolulu airport, so if you are looking to go to one of the other islands, you will most likely land in Honolulu and then take one of the inter-island airline flights to the other island. A current popular option is Hawaiian Air.
